MISSION STATEMENT

The Joliet Downtown Arts Alliance, Inc.,  exists to combine the highest standards of art-making with a rich diversity of styles, methods and materials, in the pursuit of their combined endeavor: to create, develop and nurture a vital and thriving Arts Community in the Downtown of Joliet where artists, art and audience can meet in the celebration of art in its rightful place – as a natural part of the daily life of each person.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

To be cognizant and respectful of the rights of  intellectual properties,

To be cognizant and respectful of the interests, values and needs of government and commercial neighbors in the community,

To be cognizant and respectful of the values of the community at large,

To encourage, respect and support diversity and individuality of members’ artistic expressions,

To work from life whenever possible and the use of photographs only as reference.

To foster the advancement of artists through the use of resources i.e., scholarship, workshops, seminars, periodicals

To encourage members to share knowledge & remain compatriots in our shared endeavor,

To promote the accomplishments of members through publications, competitions — to increase confidence, to grow and to succeed as professionals,

To engage the public through public events, exhibits, openings, lectures and seminars to enlist, promote, and support the emergence of the essential art-making process in all.
